Hey! I'm Karen!

It is so nice to meet you!

I graduated from George Mason University with a degree in psychology and continued my education in early childhood and special education. I spent years working with children and families. I taught pre-K special education, ran my own family daycare, and eventually spent 15 years as the director of a church preschool.

My life slowly changed. My kids got older. My roles changed. My husband and I opened businesses together. And somewhere in the middle of taking care of kids, running businesses, managing a home, being a wife, and doing all the things that needed to be done, I realized something:  I had built a life I wanted, but I wasn't enjoying it the way I thought I would.  Nothing was necessarily wrong. I loved my family. I was grateful for my life. But I had spent so many years being needed by everyone else that I wasn't really sure what I wanted anymore.

That's when I found life coaching.  And here's the funny part, I used to make fun of life coaches.

Then coaching changed my life.  It changed the way I thought. It changed the way I showed up in my marriage. It changed the way I parented. It changed my relationships. And maybe most importantly, it changed the relationship I had with myself.

I’m a wife, mom of four, bonus mom, business owner, dog mom to two Golden Retrievers, and a Certified Christian Life Coach for women .  But it took me a while to figure out that last part.

I started dreaming again.

I started doing things simply because I wanted to do them. I stopped believing that enjoying my own life somehow meant I wasn't grateful for the people in it. I learned that I could love my family like crazy and still want a life that felt like mine, too.  Eventually, I knew I wanted to help other women find that same thing.  So I became a Certified Christian Life Coach.

Today, I work with women in midlife who look around at the life they've built and think, “I have so much to be thankful for…so why don't I feel happier?”  Women who have spent years taking care of everybody else and aren't quite sure who they are outside of being the mom, the wife, the planner, the fixer, or the person everyone depends on.

I don't believe you need to blow up your life and start over.  Sometimes you just need some help figuring out what you want now.

I found my way back to dreaming, enjoying my life, and actually including myself in my own life instead of constantly managing it.  And now I get to help other women do the same.

That's why I believe so much in this work.

Not because I studied it.

Because I've lived it.

If you’ve spent years showing up for everybody else and you’re ready to figure out what you want too, pull up a chair.

We’ll start right where you are.

Woman with dark brown hair, a blue sweater on, a gold heart shaped necklace, Karen Canup Certified Christian Life Coach

I’m a Certified Christian Life Coach for Women

here’s what that means for you.

My faith is part of who I am, so it naturally shows up in the way I coach.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to preach at you or tell you what you should do.

It means we can bring faith, prayer, and Biblical truth into our conversations when it’s helpful to you.

We’ll still talk about the real-life stuff too; your thoughts, your habits, your relationships, what feels hard, and what you want this next season of your life to look like.

My job isn’t to give you all the answers.

It’s to give you a safe, judgment-free place to slow down, hear yourself again, and move forward with more clarity, confidence, and peace.
